Germinder + Associates has named Millennial mom blogger, writer, activist and photographer Megan Peters, Founder of August Light Studio, as the ninth #Germinder20 #PowerofPink Honoree to receive the award. The designation comes as Germinder sponsors Global Animal Health Week with Peters participating with Germinder in the activities. Peters has designated the KC Pet Project to receive her $1,000 Honoree donation. To read more about her story, click here. #Germinder20 #PowerofPinkHonoree
“I am so honored and humbled to be named as a Power of Pink Honoree. I began my professional career at Germinder + Associates, and what I learned there has been extremely valuable as I’ve moved through my life’s work. I am so grateful to be a part of the Germinder family! Thank you to Lea-Ann and the Germinder team for this recognition,” said Megan Peters, Founder of August Light Studio.
Germinder and Peters first met in 2005 when Peters joined Germinder + Associates as an intern. She was quickly promoted to Account Executive as she grasped the details of agency account management and the complexities of veterinary medicine. Due to her own early blogging experience, she was particularly adept at what Germinder was trying to achieve with the Goodnewsforpets.com platform at a time when Facebook did not exist and the word “digital” was not in any agency’s vernacular. She helped establish training protocols in the emerging space.
“Over the past twenty years, I’ve mentored but in return learned so much from the many bright and talented young people who have contributed to Germinder + Associates. Megan is one of those shining stars. It is especially gratifying to celebrate her as our first Millenial Honoree and her entrepreneurial success as she balances motherhood and her significant volunteer pursuits,” said Lea-Ann Germinder, APR, Fellow, PRSA, Founder and President of Germinder + Associates, Inc.
Peters is Chair of Education First Shawnee Mission (EFSM), a non-profit political action committee dedicated to getting pro-public education candidates elected to the Shawnee Mission School Board and the Kansas Legislature. EFSM was founded in February 2017, and consists of moms from the Shawnee Mission School District.
Megan is also the Congressional District Leader for Kansas District 3 for the ONE Organization. ONE is a global movement of over 9 million people who are working to eradicate extreme poverty and preventable disease.
Peters is a regular contributor to segments on parenting and photography for several Kansas City-based television shows, such as the Fox4 Morning Show, Better Kansas City, and Kansas City Live.
