A 20th anniversary is something to celebrate, but the end of a 50 year draught of championships? Yes, we celebrate a win for the Kansas City Chiefs with the greatest of civic pride where Goodnewsforpets.com was created 20 years ago. I’ve seen that Superbowl ring on our good friend David Frei’s hand from his dad’s days with the Denver Broncos and yes, it looks mighty fine. For now, all of Kansas City is basking in this initial AFC Championship win.
Our affiliate partner Chewy has some special deals on merchandise for not only Chiefs fans but all football fans if you’d like to take a gander. Chewy was at the VMX2020 for the first time this year. They were introducing their online prescription product for vets to very positive reviews. I think it is going to be a win-win moving forward.
Speaking of win-win-and more wins, Steve Dale has won yet another well deserved prestigious award. This time it is the AVMA’s Inaugural Media Award of Excellence. His career is truly remarkable as demonstrated from his first column on pet dumps to his instrumental role in helping launch this site. I humbly say again congratulations to him.
Another person to recognize and a winner in my book is the Dog Writers Association of America (DWAA) president Carol Bryant. I was lucky enough to interview her for our first 20th anniversary interview. Carol is a writer, blogger and journalist and also handles PR. She’s done an amazing job with DWAA this past year. I look forward to attending this year’s banquet as Goodnewsforpets is also a sponsor and hearing more about what she has in store for the coming year.
Demonstrating the continued high visibility of Goodnewsforpets, I’m thrilled that Netflix approached us about promoting their new series, “Dude.” It’s great to be recognized after 20 years by all kinds of mainstream media as a solid conduit to the get the word out to pet parents about the important role pets play in our lives.
Now I’m attending VMX2020 to check out all the booths and of course VMXVirtual. It’s good news about their Embrace announcement. Before VMX2020, I went to the AVMA Leadership Conference in Chicago after a four year absence. I was not only delighted to see old friends, but encouraged by the ideas of the emerging leaders and the progress the organization has made. The revised policy on declaw approved by the House of Delegates was a shining example. The AVMA $25,000 donation to assist with Australian veterinarian relief was yet another.
January isn’t even over, and already it feels like a great start to the decade.
Yes, we’ve got lot’s to celebrate in 2020 and beyond.

Nice recognition of the Chiefs! We had season tickets for 15 years when we owned PetWorks in Overland Park, KS. Even though we now live in Minneapolis are still rabid Chiefs fans. So happy for KC to have the Chiefs return to the Superbowl for the first time in 50 years. Go Chiefs!!
Hi, thanks so much for writing here and for the kudos Dr. Revoir! We remember your pawsome clinic very well. We try not to be partial but it sure feels good to root for a team that brings it home after fifty years. Kansas City literally shut down — from the car wash to the coffee shops to watch and cheer on your former hometown team — and the roar in the stadium itself was something to behold. Go Chiefs is right, until next year for all!
