What is the link between people and pets in cancer research?

Mark Morris Award winner Dr. Stephen J. Withrow developed a limb-sparing technique to treat osteosarcoma, a malignant tumor of long bones in dogs. This technique is also used in human cancer centers, and significantly increases the chance that children diagnosed with osteosarcoma can be cured.
