What disease in cats correlates with a disease in women?

A: Interstitial cystitis (IC). Dr. Tony Buffington, recipient of the 2009 Mark L. Morris, Sr. Lifetime Achievement Award, was the first to identify the commonalities between feline urological syndrome (FUS) in cats and interstitial cystitis in women. Dr. Buffington has done several studies and was the first to propose that most cases of FUS (and likely IC) are the result of a developmental disorder affecting the bladder rather than a bladder disease.
