The Bloodhound “Trumpet” won Best in Show at the 146th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show presented by Purina Pro Plan under Judge Dr. Don Sturz at the Lyndhurst Estate in Tarrytown, New York on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. This is the first time in Westminster history that a bloodhound has been awarded Best in Show.
Trumpet, a 4.5-year-old male of Saint Joseph, Illinois officially known as GCHB CH Flessner’s Toot My Own Horn, is breeder-owner-handled by Heather Buehner, co- owned and bred by Chris and Bryan Flessner, and Tina Kocar. Trumpet bested a field of 3,000 entered dogs to win Best in Show on Wednesday night after three days of Best of Breed, Group and Best in Show competition.
The French Bulldog “Winston”, officially known as GCHP CH Fox Canyon’s I Won The War At Goldshield CGCA CGCU TKN, won Reserve Best in Show with handler, Perry Payson.
The Empire State Building illuminated the New York City skyline in Westminster’s iconic purple and gold to celebrate the 146th annual event, while the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge cast a purple hue over the Hudson River to signify the show’s presence in Tarrytown, New York at the Lyndhurst Estate.
