Lea-Ann Germinder, APR, Fellow PRSA is owner & president of Germinder & Associates, Inc., a communications consultancy and parent company of www.goodnewsforpets.com. Germinder is a communications veteran, consultant, speaker, editor and publisher, who has created award-winning campaigns in several industry categories for national brands. She and her teams create digital media and traditional campaign for niche markets. She launched Germinder & Associates, Inc. in 1998 and www.goodnewsforpets.com in 2000.

She and her teams have launched over 125 campaigns in animal health and hundreds more in other markets. She has handled a wide variety of crisis communications issues and educated the public about new products and disease management, prevention and treatment Germinder has also delivered speeches on emerging communications trends at domestic and international venues including the Veterinary Medicines Summit in Nice, France. Germinder was an early proponent of the power of the Internet for public relations, beginning work in this area in 1995 with one of the first niche pet web sites, www.petdental.com.

Germinder began her career as a marketing coordinator at a sales promotion agency with incentive company E.F. MacDonald, now Carlson, working on such brands as AT&T, First Bank Systems, Northwest Airlines, and Merrill Lynch. Her development work included campaigns for the Dayton/Montgomery County Convention & Visitors Bureau and the River Corridor. She later formed a consultancy working with companies in the pet industry including the launch of the hydroponically-grown aquatic plant market and worked with the U.S. office of an international trade group, Ornamental Fish International (OFI) on trade ban and related issues. Later agency work has included national media and educational campaigns for clients as diverse as Dayco Automotive, Western Auto, Helzberg Diamonds, J.C. Nichols, Farm & Home Savings, Sprint, Bo Jackson for Cramer Products Sports Medicine and Unilever. Pet industry and veterinary profession clients have included all sectors of the profession with clients such as Pfizer Animal Health, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Ceva Animal Health, the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) among others.

She and her team have won dozens of awards, including the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Silver Anvil Award of Excellence, one of the highest national public relations awards. Other awards include the American Animal Hospital Association’s Gold Key Award. She has won three Business Marketing Association Fountain Awards. Germinder was named a Honoree for Enterprising Women and was named Top 25 “Women Who Mean Business” by the Kansas City Business Journal.

Germinder, a native of Long Island, New York, is an accredited Fellow of PRSA, one of the most prestigious honors in public relations, recognizing her strategic counsel and early adoption of Internet strategies. She is the 2014 PRSA-NY Tri-State District Representative and New York Agency Outreach Chair, a past-president of both the PRSA-New York and Kansas City chapters, and a former PRSA Midwest District Chair. She is also a member of the national Women Presidents Organization, New York Women in Communications and a member of the Cat Writers’ Association and the Dog Writer’s Association of America.
