Members of the Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA) have elected a new slate of officers and directors to serve the association in 2011. The election was held during the organization’s 43rd Management Conference & Annual Meeting, January 26-29, 2011 in Coronado, California.
Fred Schober, Chief Operating Officer of Phillips Feed & Pet Supply, Easton, PA, was elected Chairman. Mr. Schober has served on the PIDA Board of Directors since 2002, most recently as 1st Vice Chairman. He also chaired the Education & Program Committee, which is responsible for planning PIDA’s annual Management Conference, and has served on the Distributor Best Practices Task Force, the Technology Task Force, Awards Program Task Force, and Pet Care Trust Liaison.
Officers elected to serve with Mr. Schober for the coming year are 1st Vice Chairman Rob Chouinard, Gardner Distributing Co., Billings, MT, 2nd Vice Chairman Perry Parks, Wolverton, Inc., Lansing, MI, and Secretary/Treasurer Randy Reber, Animal Supply Company, Federal Way, WA. Immediate Past Chairman Bob Merar, General Pet Supply, Milwaukee, WI, remains on the board as well.
Two new directors were also appointed to the PIDA board. Mark Smith, Frontier Distributing, Oxford MI and Mike Copeland, Summit Pet Products Distributor, Greensboro, NC, will serve three-year terms on the board of directors. Directors remaining on the board include Scott Rath, Central Garden & Pet Supply, Robert Johnson, Pet Food Wholesale, and Danny Selman, Lone Star Pet Supply.
PIDA has represented the interests of pet product distributors for 43 years. PIDA’s mission is to enhance the well being of the wholesaler-distributor, to promote partnerships with their suppliers and customers and to work cooperatively with other organizations in fostering the human-companion animal bond.
