November 2008

In this issue of Goodnewsforpets.com, we call attention for the continued need to protect our pets with heartworm preventative with the Top Story, Heartworm Disease Prevention Protects Pets, Wallets, a call to compliance from the American Heartworm Society.

In the What’s New Section, another new brochure is available from the KNOW Heartworms campaign, a campaign partnering the American Heartworm Society, the American Association of Feline Practitioners and Pfizer Animal Health. Visit www.knowheartworms.org for more information as this campaign continues to educate pet owners about feline heartworm disease or Heartworm Associated Respiratory Disease or (HARD).

Finally, CATalyst, www.catalystcouncil.org, an initiative to champion the cat, gets some extra visibility at the Cat Writer’s Association of America annual conference. I will be part of a panel at the conference discussing this important program. I am proud to have participated in many sessions at this meeting to help celebrate the cat and discuss important issues in veterinary medicine and how to better educate the pet-owning public.

Finally, in these harsh economic times, also remember the North American Pet Insurance Association (NAPHIA) wants pet owners to know that pet health insurance really can be a value. More information can be found at www.naphia.org.
