New York City’s Biggest Free Pet Adoption Event Ever Comes to The Bronx

(The Bronx, NY) " On June 1st and June 2nd, thousands of dogs and cats will be looking for their forever homes at New York City’s biggest pet adoption event ever " all for free. The Alliance for NYC’s Animals will host “Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days” at locations in The Bronx, as well as at locations across the other boroughs.

Homeless dogs and cats " young and old, large and small, mixed and pure breeds, frisky and couch potatoes " will be presented for adoption citywide by more than 50 area shelters and rescue groups. While many have had a rough start, they all have lots of love to give and all need permanent, loving homes. All of the adoptable pets have been spayed, neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

All adoptions will be free of charge thanks to generous funding from California-based Maddie’s Fund® (– a family foundation, established in 1999 to help fund the creation of a no-kill nation.

Among the featured adoption locations in The Bronx are:

  • Saturday, June 1st and Sunday, June 2nd: Bronx Tales Cat Rescue, Saturday – Pet Health, 440 Amsterdam Avenue (at West 81st Street), New York, NY 10024.
  • Sunday, June 2nd: Unleashed by Petco, 1155 3rd Avenue (between East 67th and 68th Streets), New York, NY 10065 will offer dozens of cats and kittens for adoption.

The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity that works with more than 150 partner rescue groups and no-kill shelters to offer important programs and services to save the lives of NYC’s homeless animals. Receiving no government funding, we are supported by donations from foundations, corporations, and individuals. As we mark our tenth anniversary in 2013, we are committed to transforming New York City into a no-kill community by 2015: where no dogs or cats of reasonable health and temperament will be killed merely because they do not have homes.
