New York City’s Biggest Free Pet Adoption Event Ever Comes to Manhattan

(Manhattan, NY) " On June 1st and June 2nd, thousands of dogs and cats will be looking for their forever homes at New York City’s biggest pet adoption event ever " all for free. The Alliance for NYC’s Animals will host “Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days” at locations in Manhattan, as well as at locations across the other boroughs.

Homeless dogs and cats " young and old, large and small, mixed and pure breeds, frisky and couch potatoes " will be presented for adoption citywide by more than 50 area shelters and rescue groups. While many have had a rough start, they all have lots of love to give and all need permanent, loving homes. All of the adoptable pets have been spayed, neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

All adoptions will be free of charge thanks to generous funding from California-based Maddie’s Fund® (www.maddiesfund.org)– a family foundation, established in 1999 to help fund the creation of a no-kill nation.

Among the featured adoption locations in Manhattan are:

  • Saturday, June 1st : Petco 92nd Street and Broadway
  • Sunday, June 2nd : Petco Union Square — Green Space/Parking Lane along east and west sides of Broadway between 17th-19th Streets and along north side of 17th Street

The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity that works with more than 150 partner rescue groups and no-kill shelters to offer important programs and services to save the lives of NYC’s homeless animals. Receiving no government funding, we are supported by donations from foundations, corporations, and individuals. As we mark our tenth anniversary in 2013, we are committed to transforming New York City into a no-kill community by 2015: where no dogs or cats of reasonable health and temperament will be killed merely because they do not have homes. www.AnimalAllianceNYC.org
