Goodnewsforpets.com is once again sponsoring the Cat Writers Association (CWA) Human-Animal Bond Award. The announcement of the award helps set the stage for 20th anniversary year celebration of the Goodnewsforpets.com website which launched the digital platform.
“I’m thrilled we’ve made the commitment to renew our sponsorship of this award. The Cat Writers Association was the very first media partner for Goodnewsforpets.com in 2000, so it’s especially meaningful as an early tribute to celebrate our 20th year in 2020,” said Lea-Ann Germinder, editor and publisher of Goodnewsforpets.com.
The award is presented for the entry that best reflects and promotes the strengthening of the human-animal bond, highlighting the bond between a cat and owner, as well as their relationship with their veterinarian as another direct caregiver. Entries will be judged for exceptional quality and on the ability to convey this concept and connect with the reader. Qualified entries include single articles (print or online), features, columns, short stories, books, and poetry. This award consists of $500 and a commemorative certificate. Entries produced between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019 will be accepted. The specific rules and regulations will be posted and entries accepted beginning in December, 2019. Check the CWA website for updated information.
The award will be presented at the CWA 26th annual conference and awards banquet July 16-18, 2020 in Edison, New Jersey. The event partners CWA with the Cat Fanciers’ Association in conjunction with their 84th annual Garden State Cat Show and Expo. The Garden State Cat Club is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization and is one of the oldest and most prestigious cat clubs in the country. Along with it being one of the largest attended club venues, it also proudly supports local feline rescue groups, foundations, and no-kill shelters. Ticket registration and hotel details are now on the CWA website here.
Last year, Katherine Kern won the award. See below for the article. Congratulations again Katherine!
