Fort Dodge Animal Health Sponsors NSALA’s Tour for Life and Pet Adoptathon

Overland Park, KS (April 2005) ” Fort Dodge Animal Health, a division of Wyeth (NYSE:WYE), is proud to announce its continued participation as a major sponsor of North Shore Animal League America’s (NSALA) 2005 Tour for Life and National Pet Adoptathon. In conjunction with this year’s Tour, Fort Dodge Animal Health will sponsor free pet wellness exams for newly adopted pets and pet owners who bring their pet to the adoption event. The exams will be performed by local veterinarians at each of the Tour’s U. S. destinations.

“”Fort Dodge Animal Health has always been committed to promoting the well-being of America’s pets,”” says Michael Gendreau, Companion Animal Pharmaceutical Product Manager for Fort Dodge Animal Health. “”Our ongoing affiliation and support of NSALA’s programs underscores our commitment to pet healthcare and complements our ‘National Pet Wellness Month’ educational initiative with the American Veterinary Medical Association.””

“”Through National Pet Wellness Month, we are working year-round with local veterinarians to inform pet owners that because cats and dogs age, on average, up to seven times faster than people, twice-a-year pet wellness exams are the best way to detect, treat or, ideally, prevent problems before they become life-threatening,”” said Gendreau. “”This spring’s cross-country Tour for Life program allows us to take National Pet Wellness Month’s message one step further by offering free wellness exams for cats and dogs at each Tour stop.””

The North Shore Animal League America’s Tour for Life is comprised of three separate tour routes with more than 300 shelters in the U.S., the UK and Canada involved in the effort. The Tour begins the first week in April and concludes with a worldwide Pet Adoptathon on April 30 and May 1, 2005. In each market, local animal shelters and humane societies, in concert with the Tour for Life, will host adoption events and work extensively with local media to build awareness of the importance of pet adoption and the vital need for loving families.

North Shore Animal League America, located in Port Washington, NY, is the world’s largest animal adoption organization. Founded in 1944, the League has found loving homes for more than 800,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens.
