(SCHAUMBURG, Illinois) August 4, 2014—Dr. Rebecca Stinson, an equine veterinarian from Reidsville, N.C., is the new vice president of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Stinson was elected by the AVMA House of Delegates during their meeting at the 2014 AVMA Convention in Denver July 25.
As vice president, Stinson will serve as AVMA liaison to the Student AVMA (SAVMA) and student chapters. She will also be a voting member on the AVMA Executive Board.
Stinson served as SAVMA president while a student at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She has been an active member of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association and has volunteered on the AVMA Member Services Committee and Council on Veterinary Service. She was also a member of the AVMA Future Leaders program in 2012-2013.
