Douglas G. Aspros served as President of the American Veterinary Medical Association during their 150th year (2012-13). Widely experienced in volunteer leadership roles across the veterinary profession, he is a former AVMA Executive Board member, president of the New York State Veterinary Medical Society and served a term on the AVMA Council on Education, evaluating veterinary programs across the country and around the world. From 2001-2006 he represented the COE on the National Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.

Dr. Aspros has been active in community affairs in Westchester County, having been appointed to the Board of Health and serving as President of the Board from 1994 to 2013.

In 1999 he was honored as the AAHA Northeast Practitioner of the Year and, in 2000, the New York State Veterinarian of the Year. He was presented with the Great Lakes Region Award by NALBOH (National Association of Local Boards of Health) in 2004.

He is a companion animal practitioner in suburban Westchester County since graduating from Cornell. Doug and his wife live in Pound Ridge, NY with their two birds and one awesome cat.
