Welcome from CWA Founder Amy Shojai

Dear Media Colleagues:

Greetings and salutations! You’re reading this because you have an interest in cats, an interest in writing, or both—so you’ve come to the right place. The Cat Writers’ Association Inc. (CWA) is a professional organization of more than 250 published writers, artists, broadcasters and other experts from around the world, who share a special affection for and expertise in cats.

In 1992, the year of our birth, CWA founders created a unique organization dedicated to providing information about cats, offering education and mentoring of newer writers, and celebrating outstanding achievement of feline communicators.

Do you need a qualified expert to provide accurate information for your article, column, television show, or book? CWA is a reliable resource for journalists and others seeking experienced media professionals who are experts on various feline subjects. Many of our members are also canine experts. Each member is dedicated to providing news, information and education on all aspects of cats, and to improving the quality of writing about cats and other companion animals.

CWA spans the globe and genres. We boasts members from the United States, Canada, Greece, Australia, Germany, Israel, Egypt, Great Britain and New Zealand and welcome professionals from the cat-show fancy, animal welfare, veterinary, and other cat-caring arenas. Current members include writers, editors, and agents for cat-related and general-interest media, nonfiction and fiction book authors, newspaper and magazine contributors, animal behaviorists, breeders, veterinarians, illustrators, photographers, public relations specialists, broadcasters and online professionals.

Whether an established, or a future cat-writing professional, networking is the key to your success. CWA’s professional Email lists, quarterly newsletter, and annual writing conference provide the necessary tools for furthering your professional goals. Please come join our merry (furry!) throng!

The 2010 annual writing conference—open to anyone—will be held just outside of New York City in conjunction with a major cat show. Publishing and cat professionals will conduct a variety of educational seminars, and more than 40 trophy and cash awards from the CWA contest—also open to anyone—for the best cat work of the year will be announced.

We always welcome new members. For more information about membership requirements, the CWA conference and contest, visit our web site, www.catwriters.org. Tell them Amy sent you.
