Hot off the press! Life Stage Guidelines from the Association of Feline Practitioners and the Animal Hospital Association. The idea for creating these Guidelines was inspired at a meeting of the CATalyst Council. Many supporters of CATalyst include the ,Society of Shelter Animal Welfare Administrators, American Humane Association, Winn Feline Foundation, Morris Animal Foundation,American College of Veterinary Behaviorists and many more.
The Guidelines are primarily geared to veterinary professionals, though still interesting for all cat lovers to read.Dr. Ilona Rodan, of Madison, WI, a Guideline co-char and past president of the American Association of Feline Practitioners says, “Our hope is veterinarians may now communicate consistent messages, based on what data we have, to clients concerning cat care throughout their lifetime.” In fact, I am heading a group to write a version of similar Guidelines for consumers, due out sometime 2010.
