Biography of Dr. Steve Levy

Steve Levy, VMD, is Hospital Director at Durham Veterinary Hospital in Durham, Connecticut. He received his VMD from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1977.

In 1986, Dr. Levy diagnosed the first case of canine Lyme carditis, which was published two years later in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine. He has published many other scientific papers, including a study written on safety and efficacy of a canine Lyme disease bacterin in Lyme disease endemic areas in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association in 1993.

Dr. Levy recently completed a series of three peer-reviewed papers in veterinary therapeutics, including a study demonstrating prevention of Lyme infection in dogs vaccinated with LymeVax®.

Dr. Levy has been awarded the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Practitioner Research Award and the American Animal Hospital Association’s Outstanding Regional Practitioner Award. He is also past-president of the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association.
