(LAKEWOOD, Colo.) March 28, 2016 – The AAHA Austin 2016 Yearly Conferencebegins Thursday, and it is shaping up to be one of AAHA’s best conferences yet.

AAHA plans to release several announcements during the conference’s Opening Session ceremony on Thursday.

“We have some exciting announcements to share with our members and the veterinary industry in Austin,” said Michael Cavanaugh, DVM, DABVP (C/F), chief executive officer of AAHA. “AAHA has never been afraid of change; for 80+ years, we have been on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine. In keeping with our strong history of leading change, we are excited to share some announcements that we think will reflect the needs of our membership.”

AAHA has been busy in the past year, including releasing the AAHA Behavior Management Guidelines for Dogs and Cats, transitioning North American Business Association (NABA) to AAHA-Accredited Veterinary Management Groups, and publishing the new Chart of Accounts.

“We’re never boring here at AAHA,” Cavanaugh said. “You’ll have to join us in Austin to find out what’s next for AAHA and our members.”

AAHA also plans to announce the AAHA-Accredited Practice of the Year Award winners during its awards ceremony on Thursday.

The AAHA annual conference offers veterinary attendees opportunity to learn practices from industry experts, discover the latest and greatest in products and services, and network with fellow veterinarians and technicians from around the country.

As of March 28, 2,552 attendees were registered for the conference, putting conference attendance ahead of the record set by the AAHA Nashville 2014 conference.

Exhibitor space for the conference sold out the first week in February, with a waitlist for companies still hoping to get space. AAHA will welcome 233 exhibiting companies to the Austin conference.

The AAHA Austin 2016 Yearly Conference will be held in Austin, Texas March 31 – April 3, 2016. The 2017 conference will be held in Nashville, Tenn. March 30 – April 2.
