January Publisher’s Note

The announcement of this year’s Mark L. Morris, Sr. Lifetime Achievement Award is bittersweet. This is our 6th year handling the award, and I have many fond memories of visiting with the 2008 recipient of this distinguished award, the late Mark L. Morris, Jr. He was always so gracious and patient in answering our questions regarding his late father’s achievements and that of the many recipients before him. His remembrances of Dr. Jack Mara stand out in particular. The North American Veterinary Conference (NAVC) will be extra special this year with the Morris family accepting the award in his honor, and past classmates and colleagues gathering in remembrance. Yes, bittersweet it is.

Also this year at NAVC, Germinder & Associates is coordinating a press briefing for the upcoming CATalyst Summit, www.catalystsummit.org. Next month at the Summit, key influentials representing a cross-section of leading organizations and companies will tackle the alarming trend of a decline in veterinary visits, collaborate on how we can encourage responsible healthcare for cats, and ultimately elevate the status of the cat. The American Association of Feline Practitioners is leading the initiative with initial funding from Pfizer Animal Health.

This will be my 15th North American Veterinary Conference, and as it celebrates its 25th year, Germinder & Associates begins our 10th anniversary year. We do so with an exciting move of our New York office to 230 Park Avenue and the addition of Kristin Stephens as account director of client services. It’s going to be a great year!

Wishing all our readers a happy, healthy and prosperous new year,

Best Regards,
Lea-Ann Germinder, APR
