The AVMA has had one woman CEO to date. The current CEO, Dr. Janet Donlin, was selected as executive vice president and CEO of the AVMA in 2016. This marked the first time a woman has held the highest staff leadership position in the AVMA since the office was created in 1922. Donlin is the first veterinarian to earn the Certified Association Executive credential from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). She is a former trustee of the former AVMA’s Group Health Life Insurance Trust (known as AVMA LIFE), and she is a former board member of the American Association of Corporate and Public Service Veterinarians.
The AVMA, founded in 1863, is one of the oldest and largest veterinary medical organizations in the world, with more than 93,000 member veterinarians worldwide are engaged in a wide variety of professional activities. Visit www.avma.org for more information.
