2009 ACVIM Forum & Canadian VMA Convention Highlights

MONTREAL – The 2009 ACVIM Forum & Canadian VMA Convention hosted over 3,400 veterinary specialists, general practitioners, technicians and students in Montréal, Québec, Canada, June 3 ” 6, 2009.

Highlights from the conference included the keynote address from Pat LeBlanc, DVM. MS, Diplomate ACVA, entitled Creating Buy-In to Avoid Bail-out During Challenging Economic Times, as well as the presentation and discussion of the Small Animal Consensus Statement draft, Enteropathogenic Bacteria in Dogs & Cats, and the Large Animal Consensus Statement draft, Equine Metabolic Syndrome. The drafts were presented for additional input from the audience and will be published in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine (JVIM) upon completion.

The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) also presented the Robert W. Kirk Award for ProfessionalExcellence to Dr. Susan L. White and the ACVIM Distinguished Service Award to Dr. Michael Garvey.

The ACVIM is the national certifying organization for veterinary specialists in Cardiology, Large Animal Internal Medicine,Neurology, Oncology, and Small Animal Internal Medicine.
