This year’s AVMA Annual Convention will be held July 15 ” 19 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The convention brings together veterinarians, veterinary technicians, support staff and the media from all over the country to learn about the current trends in the veterinary world. I have been a part of the convention for several years and Germinder & Associates, Inc. will again assist in bringing current trends to the attention of the veterinary world. Steve Dale, Goodnewsforpets.com columnist, will present “Bark Now Or Forever Pay a Price” with Adrian Hochstadt and Dr. Eric Ako, about the importance for veterinarians and their staff to work with the media in order to promote their practice.

Germinder & Associates, Inc. is proud to be a part of this convention, which reaches out to all members of the veterinary community. We are excited to be working with the American Heartworm Society in planning for its State of the Heartworm 2007 Symposium, which will be held in conjunction with the 2007 AVMA Annual Convention. The Symposium features some of the leading authorities for discussion on the latest research and findings on heartworm disease, treatment and prevention.

In addition, we will be highlighting the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and Fort Dodge Animal Health’s “Healthy Cats for Life” campaign at the convention. “Healthy Cats for Life” is an educational campaign to inform veterinarians and cat owners about the importance of twice-a-year wellness exams. This month’s Top Story features information about the campaign. To learn about Subtle Signs of Sickness to look for in your cat, read our Special Features.

Dr. James R. Richards is the official media spokesperson for “Healthy Cats for Life.” A past president of the AAFP, Dr. Richards is currently the Director of the Cornell Feline Health Center at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. To set up a media interview or to read Dr. Richards’ complete biography, visit What’s New.

Veterinarians and physicians worldwide are constantly researching new and emerging diseases to help protect the public from potentially fatal illnesses. In our Special Features, T.J. Dunn, DVM, looks at some of the emerging diseases in the veterinary world.

Please take some time to visit our newly launched Forum, moderated by Susan Little, DVM, ABVP. Dr. Little is president of the Winn Feline Foundation and is board-certified in Feline Medicine and Surgery by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. As the first permanent veterinarian member of Goodnewsforpets.com, she provides members and guests with answers to their pet health questions.

In order to keep our site fresh and contemporary, we are offering new sponsorship opportunities for companies and organizations in the animal health industry.
