Adults cats can be adopted for free during Animal Care & Control of NYC’s Marathon-themed promotion
NEW YORK, October 29, 2014 –Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C), overflowing with adorable cats, is waiving the adoption fee for cats one year and older this Thursday through Sunday, October 30 through November 2, in an effort to find good homes for as many felines as possible. The Meow-a-thon promotion applies to AC&C’s three Care Centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island, where hundreds of great cats are available for adoption.
AC&C, the only open-admissions animal welfare organization in the five boroughs, takes in more than 18,000 cats each year, and since September 1 alone has received more than 3,700 cats. To help raise awareness, “Cat Daddy” Jackson Galaxy, host of My Cat From Hell, recently recorded a PSA for AC&C. The 30-second spot urging cat lovers to adopt, foster, and support AC&C was donated from Greatergood.org as a part of the catsRCool.org initiative with Jackson Galaxy. It can be viewed on AC&C’s website at http://nycacc.org/PublicCampaign.htm and on YouTube at http://youtu.be/WsXhjjJuPPs.
Meow-a-thon participants can meet cats and other animals available for adoption daily, 12-7pm, at AC&C’s three Care Centers, where Adoption Counselors help make “purrfect” matches:
Manhattan: 326 East 110th Street
Brooklyn: 2336 Linden Boulevard
Staten Island: 3139 Veterans Road West
Potential adopters can also visit AC&C’s website to view cats, dogs, and rabbits up for adoption, available on a first come first served basis at the Care Centers. AC&C adoptions include vaccinations, spay/neuter, a pre-registered microchip, an identification tag, a collar, and a certificate for a free initial exam at a participating veterinarian.
Those not in a position to adopt but interested in temporarily caring for a cat (or dog!) in need are encouraged to join AC&C’s foster team. The next foster orientations are set for November 11th and November 18th.
About Animal Care & Control of NYC
Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) is one of the largest animal welfare organizations in the country, taking in approximately 30,000 animals each year. AC&C is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that rescues, cares for and finds loving homes for animals throughout the five boroughs.
