In response to feedback from veterinarians who participated in the 2004 National Pet Wellness Month campaign, the National Commission on Veterinary Economic Issues (NCVEI) will develop a new bench marking too land related data to support veterinarians when they decide to integrate twice-a-year pet wellness exam protocols into their practices. The benchmarking tool will be funded, in part, by Fort Dodge Animal Health.
NCVEI is the industry’s best source for independent, real time data that veterinarians and clinic staff can use to improve their practice. With more and more practices recommending twice-a-year wellness exams, it is important for clinic staff to have access to information about exam protocols that foster better patient care and clinic financial success. NCVEI will provide those tools.
According to Howard Rubin, NCVEI’s Chief Executive Officer, “Twice yearly wellness exams enhance the delivery of quality veterinary care; it’s good medicine and good business.”
To help in accomplishing this task, a pet wellness task force has been formed. It will draw upon the experience of veterinarians who have successfully integrated twice-a-year wellness exams into their practices as well as veterinary consultants. In sight and information from this research will be provided to NCVEI, which will use the data in creating appropriate NCVEI benchmarks for twice-a-year pet wellness exams.
The AVMA and Fort Dodge are interested in hearing from veterinarians and clinic staff who practice in and/or manage clinics that recommend twice-a-year pet wellness exams.
