(Kansas City, Mo. — January 9, 2014) — The Kansas City Animal Health Corridor is now accepting nominations for the Iron Paw Award. The Iron Paw award is an award given to an individual from research, academia, industry or government regardless of title who has provided significant global leadership to the animal health industry throughout their career. The award recipient will have contributed to the animal health industry by advancing innovation, education/understanding, public awareness, market expansion or career attractiveness/employment. Individuals who have positively impacted the KC Animal Health Corridor will be given favorable consideration.
Nominations for the Iron Paw award may come from anywhere in the global animal health industry; however, the KC Animal Health Corridor Board or a subcommittee appointed by the KC Animal Health Corridor Board will decide on the recipient of the award each year.
To make a nomination, complete the nomination form before February 28, 2014 and submit to Emily Dye.
Selection Process
- Nominations will be accepted until February 28, 2014.
- A subcommittee of Kansas City Animal Health Corridor Advisory Board members will review nominations and recommend 3 candidates to the Board
- KC Animal Health Corridor Advisory Board will vote on three candidates
- The Award Honoree will be notified and the award presented at the KC Animal Health Corridor Homecoming Dinner on August 25, 2014.
2013 Iron Paw Award Honoree
Dr. James Nave
Dr. James Nave was the 2013 Iron Paw Award Honoree. Dr. Nave is a small animal practitioner in Las Vegas, Nev., and a native of Missouri. He earned his veterinary medical degree in 1968 from the University of Missouri, and has left an indelible mark at every stage of his veterinary career. Dr. Nave has gained respect as an unbiased champion for both veterinarians and animal health companies. He has created a legacy of excellence for those that follow in his footsteps.
