— New Seminar & Luncheon Awards Banquet Announced —

(New York – August 31, 2015) – Do you have the chops to win a Maxwell Medallion or Special Award? Are you looking for a good way to promote your work? Are you interested in learning more about dog writing? If so, it’s time to hurry to enter the Dog Writers Association of America (DWAA) Writing Competition and attend the DWAA Seminar and Luncheon Banquet. The competition entry deadline is September 9, 2015.  The seminar and banquet will be held Sunday, February 14, 2016 prior to the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City.

“Entering the DWAA writing competition is an excellent way to showcase and promote your work,” said Elaine Gewirtz, DWAA Contest Chair. “There is no limit to how many categories you can enter. And, while competition is stiff, newcomers can win. The validation of your hard work by your peers is unmatched.”

The DWAA contest is open to all writers, editors, publishers, photographers, artists and others whose work falls into the designated competition categories.

Nominees in the regular and special categories receive certificates. Winners of regular categories receive the DWAA Maxwell Medallion, named in honor of the late AKC judge Maxwell Riddle. Winners of special categories receive cash awards.

Special Awards are made possible through the generosity of sponsors and consist of cash grants. To be considered for a sponsorship of an award or to sponsor the awards event, companies, associations and individuals may contact DWAA Vice President & Contest Chair Elaine Gewirtz at  egewirtz@west.net.

New Seminar & Writing Competition Luncheon Format

The exciting new format for 2016 will be a luncheon following a morning writing seminar.  The seminar will be held from 8:00 a.m. to noon followed by editor appointments, and a luncheon starting at 1:00 p.m. Attendees may attend all or individual events.

“There are so many changes in the dog writing and publishing world that DWAA decided this timing and format change would greatly benefit all attendees. We look forward to delivering a great program and welcoming participants to our New York City event,” said Ida Estep, DWAA president.  For more information including early bird discounts, visit www.dogwriters.org.
