(North American Veterinary Conference, Orlando, FL – January 15, 2000) The Cat Writers’ Association, (CWA), a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging and improving writing about cats, has joined with gdmnews.com, a division of Germinder & Associates, Inc., a public relations and Internet communications agency specializing in animal health and pet news, in launching goodnewsforpets.com.

As part of the agreement, the CWA will become the first media association member, a special section on the site will promote the organization and its awards program and members will have the option of being listed on the site as media resources. The site will also select CWA member books for posting on the site with publisher name and media contact number. The CWA will in turn offer the site’s email newsletter and promote the site to its members.

Amy Shojai, CWA president, believes goodnewsforpets.com is a site destined to be bookmarked by writers with a special interest in pet news.

“CWA is pleased to participate in adding visibility to the site and offering our members as experts on cat issues. The site is very clean and clear, is filled with easy to find info, and not cluttered. Steve Dale adds credibility to the site and the question of the week will interest general media. I know this would e a bookmarked site for me and likely for every pet writer out there,” said Shojai.

CWA member, veteran newspaper reporter, award-winning writer, author, nationally syndicated “My Pet World” columnist and WGN “Pet Central” radio host Steve Dale will provide news content and media source information with a weekly column posted to the site. He will also post an interview of a popular book author every six weeks along with the author’s publishing house and media contact information. Considered the “Ann Landers” of the pet world, Dale hopes his participation in the site will spark even more interest in pet books and pet care with the general consumer media.

Lea-Ann Germinder, APR, president of the company, is a nationally accredited public relations professional with twenty years experience. She believes the site will provide the opportunity to provide cost-effective reach for site sponsors, grow with partners such as CWA, and ultimately provide real value to the media.

“I am honored and delighted that the Cat Writers’ Association has chosen to join us in this endeavor and we can provide visibility for their organization and a service to their members. They know many organizations don’t have the resources for a traditional national consumer media campaign or a special media section on their web site. These organizations can post their information on goodnewsforpets.com, a quality site, and know this will be a place where media will come to find credible, relevant veterinary medicine and pet care information to communicate to pet owners,” said Germinder.

The Cat Writers’ Association has 180 members representing writers, editors, photographers, reporters, publicists, publishers, and editors. The organization presents its annual Muse Medallion awards to winners in 32 categories as well as nine corporate-sponsored special awards at an annual awards banquet in conjunction with the Cat Fanciers International Cat Show. The organization’s website is www.catwriters.org.
