Grizz’s Story: A Greater Courage in Battling Canine Cancer

Appleton resident and author Jo Helms has written a book titled, Grizz’s Story: A Greater Courage, and created a Web site devoted specifically to companion animal cancer research and treatment. Helms’ Web site provides information about her beautiful, full color, soft cover book that tells the touching and heartwarming story of “Grizz”, their first Siberian Husky. Grizz’s Story: A Greater Courage, is a story of courage, love, devotion, hope and faith in the battle against canine cancer.

This book is unique in that it is told through Grizz’s eyes by his owner Jo Helms. This book is recommended reading by The Siberian Husky Health Foundation and by Oncolink. Although you can already visit the site, we are officially launching a press release immediately!! Jo and Barry Helms are donating ALL proceeds to The Grizz & Friends Companion Animal Cancer Research and Treatment Fund, a 501c3 charity held by the University of Wisconsin-School of Veterinary Medicine, where Grizz was treated. Both Jo and her husband Barry are devoting their efforts to help find a cure for this crushing disease. Their names were added to the “Honor Roll” at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for their donations toward the fight against canine cancer. There is no outside funding and they are doing this on their own to help others live longer and healthier lives as they battle canine cancer.. Grizz’s Story is only available from the author and will not be available in book stores. Each copy will be personally dedicated upon request prior to shipment.

There was also an article about Jo’s book and their efforts to help others battling canine cancer in the Appleton Post Crescent in December 2005. This book has made its way to Germany, Canada, England, Sweden, Australia and 38 states throughout the United States.

On another happy note, Jo also won the Dog Writers Association’s 2005 writing competition/PSI-First Canine Award for an article she wrote for the Twin Cities Siberian Husky Club called, “Tipsoo’s Amazing Escape and Rescue.” Helms invites everyone who loves animals to come and help celebrate the launch, and to check out the great Companion Animal Cancer Research & Treatment Fund related content on the Web site.
