Cats up! The Cat Writers’ Association (CWA) today announced the 25th Anniversary Conference and Awards Banquet will be held May 16 -18, 2019 at the Drury Plaza Hotel at the Arch, St. Louis, Mo. The CWA was founded in 1992 and has held its conferences since 1994 across the nation, but this will be the first time in historic downtown St. Louis. “We had a great conference in Houston last year and now we’re ramping it up a notch to celebrate our 25th Anniversary in St. Louis, in the heart of the country with our members and fellow CWA supporters,” said Deb Barnes, CWA President.
The CWA conference will feature sessions on publishing, writing and cat experts in must-attend panels, seminars, key-notes and one-on-one meetings. A catalogue of cat-centric attractions from a cat café to cat ears, catty awards to cat products, and (of course!) a massive pet-centric book signing.
The 2018 contest will open soon. Last year’s contest awarded 41 Muse Medallions and $14,000 in cash prizes. Entrants will be encouraged to submit their cat-centric work, which will be evaluated by a panel of professionals, including writers, artists, video producers, veterinarians and other highly credentialed judges. The top submission for each category receives the coveted Muse Medallion award at the banquet. In addition to the highly sought-after Muse Medallions, all of the special awards include cash prizes through the generosity of corporate and private sponsors.
Special sponsor packages are available for this 25th Anniversary Celebration. Contact Lea-Ann Germinder, CWA Sponsorship Chair at Lgerminder@germinder.com or Deb Barnes, CWA President at email@example.com for details.
Also in announcing the 25th conference, the CWA introduced a new mission statement to reflect serving the needs of its broader member base, “The Cat Writers’ Association is a global, cat-centric professional organization dedicated to excellence in written, visual and audio media.”
In a message inviting members to attend the event next year, the CWA wrote, “In a world of fast moving innovation, where organizations come and go, the steadfast Cat Writers’ Association remains dedicated to its founding ideals. Like a cat, the CWA stays nimble and able to change with the times, embracing new media and innovations to best serve members and the cats they love. We hope to have as many cat-loving writers and fans join us to celebrate.”
