PIDA Elects New Officers, Welcomes Reid Back as Director

Mark Smith, President of Frontier Distributing Inc., Oxford, Michigan, was elected Chairman of the Board during PIDA’s annual business meeting in Laguna Beach, California.

PIDA logoSmith has served on the PIDA Board since 2011 and was previously Vice-Chairman. He succeeds Scott Rath who chaired the association’s Board for two years. Rath will continue on the Board as immediate past chairman.

“As a distributor, I value my membership in PIDA as an essential contributor to my company’s success,” commented Smith. “I am honored to lead this organization and will work with the Board and staff to continue PIDA’s legacy of service to distributors and our trading partners.”

Other officers elected to serve in 2017 are Jeff Boyd, Lee-Mar Aquarium & Pet Supplies, Vista, CA as Vice-Chairman and Craig Brummell, Essex Topcrop Sales, Essex, Ontario, Canada as Secretary-Treasurer.

Peter Reid, Marshall Pet, Wolcott, NY was elected to serve a three-year term as a director. He previously served on the Board from 1996 to 2005 and was President of PIDA in 2002 and 2003. Reid will represent live animal wholesalers on the PIDA Board.

Continuing on the Board are Jim Bradley, Bradley Caldwell, Inc.; Rob Chouinard, Phillips Feed & Pet Supply; Ryan Judge, Southeast Pet; and Clancy Lavins, Animal Supply Co.

PIDA has represented the interests of pet product distributors since 1968.  The mission of PIDA is to enhance the well-being of the wholesaler-distributor, to promote partnerships with their suppliers and customers and to work cooperatively with other organizations in fostering the human-companion animal bond.
