IAMS Feeds the Winn Feline Foundation at Meet the Breeds
(Hillsborough, NJ)The Iams Pet Food Company donated $10,000 to the Winn Feline Foundation at the American Kennel Club/ Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) Meet the Breeds event at the Javits Center in New York City, October 17-18.
The event proved dogs and cats can mingle, with 160 dog breeds and 41 cat breeds in the same building at one time. Thousands of spectators were introduced to rare cat and dog breeds, and saw demonstrations of what happens at cat shows and at dog shows-in the first ever event of its kind.
"Over the years Iams has been an important supporter of the Winn Foundation", says Board Member Steve Dale, who created a fund named for his deceased cat Ricky to raise money for a common heart problem in cats, feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. At that time, instantly when Ricky passed on and the fund was announced ¨C Iams was among the first to contact me, and to make a contribution.
With the economy being what it is, the dollars couldn¡¯t have come at a better time to help all cats, says executive director Janet Wolf, who accepted the check at Meet the Breeds. "We're grateful for the continued support that will help Winn fund critical health studies."The donation was made in honor of Artie, a Cornish Rex cat featured in Iams cat food ads. Iams also donated $10,000 to the Bulldog Club of America at Meet the Breeds in honor of "Munch" the Bulldog.
